When you compare sex in mainstream media at the moment, it's abundantly clear that we're actually more prude now than say ten to fifteen years ago. But showing nudity is still regarded as a big no no. It's a bit puzzling that the few games which does try to be as sexy as possible (ie, Rumble Roses) never have nudity.Īs a sidenote, although someone already mentioned it, I think it's a bit of a shame that over the top violence is extremely common and always accepted. Nudity seems to be mostly added for shock value (aka "omg penis!" in gay tony), or in a very few cases they have a valid reason for it but then it just ends up being used in such a weird and random way (aka Conan). Stories in gaming in general has a tendency to be awful, so including sex for that reason is usually a failure (and thus ends up being extremely awkward). But as it is now, sex and nudity in games have been used in pointless ways. I'll be honest, if Namco decided to make Soul Calibur 5 an explicit porn game, I'll be there day one and I'd give it 10 out of 10 with no doubt.
